Soda Cracker Pie Crust
Soda Cracker Pie Crust is sweet, salty, and buttery with just 3 ingredients. A vintage no-fuss crust perfect for lemon, cream, or fruit pies.

Saltine Cracker Pie Crust
This Soda Cracker Pie Crust uses crushed saltines, sugar, and butter to create a sweet and salty crust that bakes up golden and crisp. It's an easy alternative to graham cracker crust and works beautifully for no-bake or baked pies.
The soda cracker crust stays slightly crisp on the edges while the center softens just enough to slice cleanly.
I love making a recipe and having my friends and family try to guess the secret ingredient. Vintage recipes, like this one, are often good sources for winning the "Guess the Secret Ingredient Game".
For this round of the game, I made Easy Lemon Pie with Saltine Cracker Crust for my momma and Aunt Penny on Mother's Day.
And guess what! No one guessed the secret ingredient in this Saltine Cracker Pie Crust. Well, someone eventually did, but only after hints. So, I still win.
The pie crust was so delicious, that I wondered what took me so long to try using soda crackers instead of graham crackers. I'll be making my Chocolate Cream Pie with a Soda Cracker Crust next. I can't wait!

Why Soda Crackers Work for Pie Crust
Looking for a crust that's sweet, salty, and just a little different? Try this Soda Cracker Pie Crust instead of graham cracker.
- The salt balances sweet fillings
- The butter binds the crumbs like a traditional graham crust
- The texture stays crisp even with creamy fillings

Ingredients for a Sweet and Salty Pie Crust
You are just three ingredients away from a delicious sweet and salty pie crust you can fill with anything.
- Saltine Crackers, original -- crumbled finely, don't crust to dust
- Sugar -- adds just a touch of sweetness to the crust to balance the salty crackers
- Butter, room temperature -- brings fat to hold the crust together and brings richness

How to Make Soda Cracker Pie Crust
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl, crumble the crackers with your hands until a fine meal is formed. Do not crush to dust. A few larger pieces is fine. No food processor needed. Crushing the crackers in the sleeve keeps the texture just right and saves cleanup.
- Sprinkle in the sugar and stir.
- Knead the butter into the cracker crumb mixture with your hands until the crumbs hold together.
- Press into a 9 or 10 inch pie plate. Hint: Use the back of a flat-bottomed measuring cup to help you press the crust down into the pie pan.
- Chill for 15 minutes.
- Bake for 18 minutes in the preheated oven or until the crust is a light golden brown.
- Cool on wire rack before filling with a filling of your choice.
Note: No food processor needed. Crushing the crackers in the sleeve keeps the texture just right and saves cleanup.

Soda Cracker Crust vs. Graham Cracker Crust
Unlike graham cracker crust, soda cracker crust leans more savory with a subtle saltiness that balances sweet fillings beautifully.
The texture is similar, but the flavor contrast makes cream and citrus pies pop.

Storing Soda Cracker Pie Crust
Store the cooled crust at room temperature until ready to fill, then store as appropriate for the pie filling.
FAQ
There is no difference. The terms are interchangeable.
I find it best to just smash the crackers in the cracker sleeve with my hands or a rolling pin. This contains the mess and doesn't waste a zip lock bag or get the food processor dirty.
Plus, the processor would make the crumbs into powder. For this crust, the texture is nice with a few larger chunks of cracker.
I love my Easy Lemon Pie filling, Chocolate Pie, and Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie in this pie crust.
But you can replace any graham cracker crust with this crunchy crust.
Yes. Bake and cool the crust fully before filling with a chilled or no-bake filling. It holds up beautifully to pudding, lemon, and cream-style pies.
