Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie - a sweet/salty lover's dream. Salty pretzel crust, fluffy creamy peanut butter filling, and peanut butter drizzle.
Easy Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie
Salty and sweet is my favorite flavor combination and Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie hits the notes. Kind of like putting peanuts in my Coke.
As Barbara Mandrell's song plays in the background of your mind, imagine sinking your fork into crunchy, salty pretzel crust, enveloping a fluffy layer of creamy peanut butter filling, crowned with a decadent peanut butter drizzle and a sprinkling of crunchy peanuts.
This pie isn't just dessert; it's an experience, a celebration waiting to happen. But the best part? This pie is super easy.
But fair warning: once you take that first heavenly bite, resistance becomes futile. I speak from experience; this pie has a magnetic pull that kept me coming back for more, despite my intentions of sharing.
Yes, my plan to spread the joy was thwarted by my selfish desire to keep every morsel to myself.
Fellow peanut butter lovers: Create a peanut-butter-palooza-party and indulge with a spread that includes not only this divine Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie, but also Honey Peanut Butter Cookies, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats.
Let's celebrate the joy of peanut butter together, sharing may be optional, but it is rewarding.

Ingredients for Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie
A few simple ingredients come together to make a true homemade pie that will impress your peanut butter loving friends and family.
Pretzel Pie Crust
- Pretzels, crushed - I used my food processor to whiz them into a fine crush, then mixed the rest of the ingredients in for a no-mess mix
- Peanuts - More peanut flavor. Omit, if using the crust for a pie without peanuts.
- Butter, melted - Salted or unsalted works here.
- Sugar - Just a little to help sweeten and balance the crusts flavor.
Peanut Butter Pie Filling
- Cream Cheese or Neufchatel Cheese - Provides thickness and tang to the filling.
- Peanut Butter - Ummm... it's a peanut butter pie.
- Powdered Sugar - Provides smooth sweetness to the filling.
- Vanilla - Enhances the flavors.
- Whipped Topping - Fold in for an extra light texture.
- Garnish - Chopped peanuts, pretzels and melted peanut butter drizzle.
See recipe card for quantities.
How to Make Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie
This easy dessert is the lazy baker's secret weapon for fooling everyone into thinking you're a dessert virtuoso.
Making Pretzel Pie Crust
This crunchy pretzel crust is a fantastic compliment to the creamy peanut butter filling and one you will want to keep in your pie-making arsenal.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Measure pretzels then crush them into fine crumbs in a food processor or by crushing pretzels in a baggy with a rolling pin.
- To the crushed pretzels, add melted butter, sugar, and ¼ cup chopped peanuts.
- Pour into a 9-inch pie pan and press into shape with the bottom of a measuring cup or spoon.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden brown and firm.
- Cool before filling.
Making Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie Filling
- In a separate bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, peanut butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until well combined.
- Fold in about ¼ of the Whipped Topping to start the process. Then once well combined fold in the remainder trying not to destroy the fluff.
- Pour filling into cooled crust.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 2 Tablespoons of additional peanut butter in the microwave for 20-30 seconds or until easily stirred. Drizzle over the top of the filling.
- Chill completely before serving. 2-3 hours or overnight.
- Garnish with chopped pretzels and peanuts.
Hint: Stir a small amount of the whipped topping into the peanut butter mixture first. You can stir more aggressively to get the mixture loosened up, making folding the remaining whipped topping in easier and fluffier.
Substitutions & Variations
Make this pie fit your dessert needs.
- Low Sugar Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie - use sugar-free whipped topping, natural peanut butter, and sugar substitute for a low-sugar pie.
- Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Pie - Use gluten-free pretzels in your crust for a gluten-free pie.
- Homemade Fresh Whipped Cream - Whip up 2 cups of heavy whipping cream instead of Whipped Topping, if preferred.
- Crust Options - Add a variety of flavors to this peanut butter flavor pie by mixing up the crust. Chocolate Cookie Crust, Graham Cracker Crust, or Traditional Pie Crust are all perfect for this pie filling.
- Garnishes - Top your pie with chocolate shavings, peanut butter cups, chocolate ganache, chocolate drizzle, etc.
So many variations of this yummy pie to try.
- Elvis Pie - add a layer of sliced bananas on the crust before topping for a sweet, fruity surprise layer.
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie - Stir mini chocolate chips into the fluffy filling and drizzle with chocolate syrup along with the peanut butter drizzle.
- Almond Butter Pretzel Pie - Substitute almond butter for a variation on the nuts. Heck, try Sunbutter, for those with a tree nut allergy.
See this Chocolate Cream Pie with Graham Cracker Crust for another fantastic cream pie. This recipe contains my favorite way to whip heavy cream into a delicious homemade whipped topping.
Storing Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie
Store covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
Top tip
Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie is easily made into a perfect No Bake Dessert - Instead of baking the crust, freeze it for 30 minutes to firm up.
FAQ
Absolutely. This pie is delicious with graham cracker or traditional pie crust.
Adding the peanut butter drizzle really brings home the peanut flavor. Make sure to add chopped peanuts and pretzels so everyone knows what is in your pie. For a chocolate touch, add chopped peanut butter cups.
For my recipe, I measured the pretzels and then crushed them. So, use 1 ½ cups whole pretzels, then smash them.
