    Homemade Beef and Cheese Pizza

Homemade Beef and Cheese Pizza is perfect for movie nights, cozy nights in, and sleepovers.

The family loves it when I make this pizza; everyone can agree on this flavor combination. Can you believe I typed that? The kids all agreed on something.

Feel free to add or take away any toppings as you prefer. Consider making little mini pizzas and letting everyone top their own pizza any way they want.

Serve it with a side of Roasted Romaine Lettuce Salad. Or mix up a batch of Ranch Cottage Cheese Dip for dunking your pizza and a few carrot sticks.

Having a big crowd? Use the whole 10-Minute All Purpose Dough for 2 large slabs of pizza. Consider making one pizza this Beef and Cheese and the other one a Chicken Peach and Pesto Pizza. You won't be sad.

Ingredients for Homemade Pizza with Ground Beef

    • Half batch of 10-Minute All Purpose Dough recipe -- I like to make a full batch to bake bread and then save half of the dough in the fridge for 2-4 days for this pizza crust. Waiting a few days lets the dough develop a fantastic flavor and texture. But you can use the dough right away if you prefer.
    • Pesto with Craisins -- Used to season your pizza sauce. Use store-bought if needed. Or season your tomato sauce with 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon salt, and 2 teaspoons sugar.
    • Tomato Sauce -- I used home canned, but store-bought is just fine.
    • Ground Beef -- Cook until it's browned and a touch crispy.
    • Onion -- Chopped and cooked with the beef for great flavor.
    • Garlic -- Flavor that burger up for the best pizza.
    • Salt and Pepper -- To flavor the beef.
    • Mozzarella Cheese -- I like to shred my own using my food processor.
    • Olive Oil -- Coats the pan for a good crispy crust.
    • Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes, as desired.

    See recipe card for quantities.

ingredients you will need to make a homemade pizza with ground beef.

How to Make Homemade Pizza with Ground Beef

    1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
    2. Cook ground beef, onion, garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, and black pepper over medium-high heat until beef is slightly browned. Drain off grease, if needed.
    3. Meanwhile, generously drizzle olive oil on the bottom of a large sheet pan and spread around to coat the bottom.
    4. Using your fingers, flatten the prepared pizza dough to cover the bottom of the pan.
    5. Stir pesto and ½ teaspoon salt into tomato sauce. Spread evenly over the pizza dough.
    6. Top sauce with ground beef mixture and shredded mozzarella cheese.
    7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Rotate the pan halfway through cooking.
    8. Top with parmesan pizza and red pepper flakes.

Hint: Lift the edge of the pizza up to peek at the bottom of the crust to ensure it has browned before removing from the oven. Cover the top with foil if it's getting done faster than the crust.

I am spreading the pesto pizza sauce all over my all-purpose dough for homemade pizza with ground beef.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Gluten-Free - use a gluten free pizza crust recipe as the base for this pizza
    • Vegetarian Homemade Pizza - Skip the ground beef for a delicious cheesy pizza. Top with your favorite veggies if desired.
    • Deluxe - Clean out the fridge and top with all the toppings. Bacon, sausage, pepperoni, peppers, onions, jalapenos, pineapple, spinach, tomatoes, etc.
    • Calzone - Roll out the dough into a round and fold it in half for a fun calzone or try our Chicken Bacon and Ranch Calzone Recipe.
    • Easy Homemade Pizza - Use a store-bought crust mix and pizza sauce for an even easier homemade pizza.

See the recipe for Chicken, Peach and Pesto Pizza for another great pizza filled with fantastic toppings.

Storing Homemade Pizza with Ground Beef

Store homemade pizza in the fridge in a large zip-top bag for up to 5 days.

    Top tip

Make sure to season your ground beef well. Don't skimp on the salt and pepper as this is the main source of seasoning for this pizza.

    FAQ
