No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats

Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are an easy recipe that amp up classic Rice Krispie Treats and bring them to a whole new level of deliciousness for peanut butter/chocolate fans.

I love all kinds of cereal treats. Sometimes ashamed of how many I can eat.

Don't think about the idea that I consume 6 cups of cereal and a whole bag of mini marshmallows each time I eat a whole pan of those classic sweet treats.

I served this Chocolate Peanut Butter version to a group of friends who spent the weekend here on the farm. I felt better about myself after that. Because my friends couldn't stop eating these either!

Ingredients for Chocolate PB Rice Krispie Treats

Simple ingredients come together to make a no bake treat that your family won't be able to stay out of.

    • Light Corn Syrup
    • White Sugar
    • Creamy Peanut Butter
    • Crispy Rice Cereal
    • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
    • Peanut Butter Chips
    • Flake Sea Salt (optional)
ingredients for chocolate peanut butter rice krispie treats.

How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats

First, pour corn syrup and sugar into a large pot.

On stove top cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves and mixture just begins to boil.

Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter. Mix well. Add Rice Krispies. Stir until well coated.

Next, press the peanut butter mixture into an even layer into a 13 x 9 baking pan coated with cooking spray or parchment paper. Set aside.

In the microwave, melt chocolate and peanut butter chips together in a medium microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds. Heat just until melted. Don't over heat!

Spread melted chocolate and peanut butter chips evenly over the cereal mixture. Sprinkle with flake sea salt, if desired.

Let stand until firm. Cut into small squares when cool.

    Top Tips

Before measuring the corn syrup, coat your measuring cup with cooking spray--the syrup will pour easily out of the cup.

Do NOT boil the corn syrup and sugar mixture. As soon as the sugar is dissolved and it just starts to boil, remove from the heat. Otherwise, your mixture will be hard and too crispy.

To easily press the cereal mixture into the pan, wet your hands slightly with cold water, then use them to press the cereal mixture into the pan.

Alternatively, cover your hand in plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray to prevent the cereal mixture from sticking to your hands.

Avoid burning chocolate and peanut butter chips. Stir frequently!

Use a 9x9 square pan if you like your treats extra thick.

    Substitutions and Variations

Double Chocolate--Use Cocoa Krispies instead of Rice Krispies for even more chocolate flavor.

Create a new family favorite by topping your krispie treats with chopped Peanut Butter Cups instead of flake sea salt.

Scotcheroos are the original recipe and use butterscotch chips in place of the peanut butter chips and are delicious!

Chocolate Chip Rice Krispie Treats are a fantastic way to enjoy Rice Krispie Treats. Just stir in one cup of mini or regular chocolate chips with the Rice Krispies.
