Smelling Peach Cobbler in a Crock Pot with Cake Mix is torture, but worth it. Dump the 5 ingredients into your crockpot and…magic happens!
Slow Cooker Peach Cobbler 🍑
Y'all! I want you to know how unfair life is here at the Laughing Rooster Farm!
I did alllll the work (well, I peeled the peaches and put them with the ingredients in the CrockPot) and I only got one tiny little bowl of this Peach Cobbler! What the heck?!
I'm the one who was home all day and had to suffer through smelling this gooey, sweet, cinnamony, peachy dessert cook!
Someone (no names being named) got home late from a date (my middle child...) and when I got up the next morning, to have a healthy balanced breakfast of Peach Cobbler in a Crock Pot with Cake Mix, nothing remained but the dirty crockpot!
RUDE!
FYI--he just informed me that when I make this cobbler again, he will eat it all again. NO SHAME!
Let me tell you, the one tiny little piece I did get to have was absolutely de-vine! I'm not sure I've ever had a peach cobbler that good. And I'm a homemade crust, peach pie lover from wayyyyyy back.
Good thing this recipe is actually very easy to make!...The hardest part is waiting for it to finish cooking while smelling it all day.
So, I'll be making another one this week.
My Aunt Penny would love this cobbler and it's easy enough for her to make.
But I think I'll make it for her so I have a good excuse to have a good sit-down visit on the front porch.
Top Tips 🙋🏻
Canned or frozen peaches work just fine for this recipe, but if it's peach season, go with the fresh ones.
I use a yellow cake mix most of the time, but a white cake mix or even a spiced cake mix will certainly work.
Serve a scoop of vanilla ice cream over the top of a piece of warm cobbler to your friends and you will have friends for life!
This is maybe my favorite dessert you've ever made... and that's sayin' something.

Ingredients🧾
5 simple ingredients are between you and the easiest, best peach cobbler on the planet.
- Sliced Peaches--fresh if they are in season, otherwise canned peaches (drained) or frozen peaches.
- Brown Sugar--adds to the sweetness and richness of the cobbler. Adjust the amount of sugar to fit your taste buds and the sweetness of your peaches.
- Ground Cinnamon--warms up the flavor of the peaches so nicely.
- Yellow Cake Mix--I used yellow cake mixes most of the time, but feel free to use what makes sense to you--white and spice cakes are both good with peaches.
- Butter--salted or unsalted butter sliced into thin pats to dot over the top of the cake mix to create a crust topping that is delish!
That's it. Only 5 ingredients! Can you believe that?
How to Make Crock Pot Peach Cobbler 🥄
I almost feel ashamed to tell you how to make this cobbler because it is so easy, but yet the results are so amazing... You don't have to tell your friends or family how easy it is. Let them be impressed by you (and possibly feel guilty for eating it all... right, middle child?!).
- Spray the inside of your slow cooker with baking spray to prevent the cobbler from sticking.
- Peel and slice peaches if using fresh. If using canned, drain the peaches of the syrup. Just add frozen peaches directly to the crock pot, if using.
- Sprinkle the peaches with brown sugar and cinnamon. Make sure peaches cover the bottom of your crock pot.
- Sprinkle dry cake mix over the peaches. DO NOT STIR.
- Place thin pats of butter over the top of the dry cake mix. DO NOT STIR.
- Place the lid on your slow cooker. Set to cook on high for 3 to 3 ½ hours, or until golden brown and bubbling
- Scoop into serving bowls while still warm and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to serve.
Substitutions and Additions 🥣
This recipe is pretty flexible with the limited ingredients listed. I like a little flexibility in case I don't have everything in my pantry. So here are a few subs--
Use canned that you drain very well of syrup or frozen peaches in place of fresh ones.
Use white sugar in place of brown sugar.
Add some chopped pecans on top of the cake mix to add some rich crunchiness to this beautiful dessert.
Variations 🍽️
Oh Lawd! This method opens up the door to all kinds of fruit cobblers in the crock pot! Give your favorite fruit a try.
Gluten-Free Peach Cobbler--Try using a gluten-free cake mix if that's a need in your household.
Apple Cobbler in the Crock Pot--use canned apples to give this variation a try. If using fresh apples, be sure to slice them thin. I prefer the flavor and texture of Granny Smith apples for pies and cobblers such as this.
Blueberry Cobbler--Use fresh or frozen blueberries.
Blackberry Cobbler--Fresh or frozen would work fantastic!
Mixed Fruit Cobbler--I love to add a few blueberries or blackberries to my peach cobbler.
Equipment 🔪
My CrockPot is an older model that I keep using thinking it will eventually quit on me, but it just keeps on chugging along. I remember I was very young when I bought it and it sure has lasted a long time!
Later I purchased a second Crock Pot to have a backup because when we have gatherings sometimes I need 2 slow cookers. I really like the simplicity of the dials on my new one.
FAQ
Yes, for ease of cleanup, I suggest spraying the cooker with baking spray. If you're into using the liners, feel free to use them here.
NO! Do not stir! The butter and cake mix magically make the crust for the cobbler.
Not for this recipe. Just sprinkle the cake mix powder on top of the peaches, dot with butter, and put the lid on.
Storing Peach Cobbler ❄️
Not that I expect you will have to worry about storing this homey dessert for long but store it in the fridge for 3-5 days in a covered container, if needed.
Reheating Peach Cobbler 🌡️
I like to reheat my serving of cobbler in the microwave for 30 seconds or so. Just enough to take the chill off and melt my ice cream a little bit.
Serving Ideas 🍽️
Serve Crock Pot Peach Cobbler with a scoop of ice cream. I like good ol' vanilla for this, but serving it with peach or caramel ice cream would certainly be delish.
It's also delightful with a little dollop of homemade whipped cream on top.
