Crunchy Maple Pecan Granola Recipe is all one would hope for in a homemade granola--easy, crunchy, and full of warm flavors.

Maple 🍁 Pecan Granola with Coconut 🥥
I prefer my yogurt parfait with a little yogurt and a lot of Maple Pecan Granola. Maybe a little fruit, too. But everyone at this house knows the granola is the star of this show!
I love that this is a good jumping-off recipe for anyone that I share it with. It's easily adjusted to your flavor preferences.
I've shared a few suggestions in the Variations section below, but I bet you have some of your own ideas!
I suggest you make it as I've shared it the first time then add to it the next time. And trust me, there will be a next time.
Ingredients 🧾
These ingredients are the perfect start to your own special Maple Pecan Granola Recipe.
- Old Fashioned Oats--These have the perfect size of flake which is slightly larger than quick oats. Some refer to these as rolled oats.
- Chopped Pecans--I love pecans from our local farmers. I buy a bunch each fall and store them in the freezer.
- Shredded Coconut--brings just a little chewy interest to the granola.
- Brown Sugar--brings sweet warmth to the recipe.
- Maple Syrup--Use 100% maple syrup. NOT pancake syrup, please.
- Oil--Canola or other neutral-flavored oil is best.
- Water--helps with the crisp.
- Kosher Salt--lifts up the sweetness from the brown sugar and maple syrup to balance it all out.
Instructions for Making Granola 🧑🏼🍳
Not much is involved in the directions for this easy-peasy recipe.
- Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Pour on a parchment paper lined sheet pan and bake.
- Stir well every 20 minutes. Baking until golden brown.
- Cool completely before putting it in a lidded container.
- Store at room temperature for several weeks to months.
Gluten-Free 🚫 Granola
This recipe is gluten-free as shared, but if you are really sensitive, make sure you buy gluten-free oats. This assures your oats don't have any cross-contamination.
I don't have to worry about eating gluten-free, but I love having a few recipes in my arsenal that are safe for those who need it.
I remember a sweet little girl visiting my house around Christmas and I had several treats made up. She immediately dismissed the idea of eating any of my treats because her body required her treats be gluten-free.
But guess what!... I tricked her! I had 2 treats she could safely eat and I loved seeing the surprise and excitement in her eyes.
Afterall, sharing food is why I enjoy cooking so much!
Top Tips ✅
Stir this granola every 20 minutes to turn all the little flakes of oats, pecans, and coconut over. This ensures it browns evenly.
Don't skim on the cooking time. Make sure the granola is legitimately golden brown all over. Otherwise it won't be as crunchy.
Cool Granola completely before storing it to make sure it stays crispy in the jar for weeks to come.
Storing Maple Pecan Granola Recipe
I like to store my granola in a wide-mouth canning jar with a tight-fitting lid. This makes enough to fill a half gallon jar.
Homemade Gifts
Divide the cooled granola up into jelly jars with good lids, cover the lids with a square of fabric and tie on a ribbon for a fantastic homemade food gift.

Remember that your oven may heat differently so stay close by when you make this for the first time. My oven runs hot & I made the mistake of being in another room & didn't hear the timer go off so my first batch turned out a bit darker & more crunchy (but still tastes good). For the second batch, I stirred the granola every 10 minutes & took it out of the oven after 30 minutes & it turned out much better. Thanks for the recipe, Chuckie!

Thank you for the tips, Carol Ann! This granola is a staple at our house and I've also been known to wonder and let it get a bit brown. 🙂 Happy cooking!
