So Long Saloon Dip

I've spent a bit of time in the Little Apple, Manhattan, Kansas. If you haven't ever made it there, it's a beautiful town worth visiting. No visit would be complete without a stop in Aggieville to eat or hang out.

One of my fav places there is a restaurant named So Long Saloon. Mostly because they have So Long Saloon Dip!

I've worked to create a tasty Raspberry Chipotle Dip recipe that mimics this delicious dish and is easy to make with easy-access ingredients. This perfect combination of cream cheese, black beans, chipotle peppers, little bit of cumin, and sweet jam is worth making!

This great dip served with Air Fryer Pita Chips or tortilla chips, is perfect for the big game or your next dinner party.

Ingredients

  • Cream Cheese, softened
  • Chipotle Sauce or Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce--brings a smoky, pepper flavor to the spicy sauce without being too hot
  • Raspberry Jam--the sweetness to the dip
  • Cumin--a little bit of earthy spice
  • Black Beans, rinsed & drained
  • Mozzarella Cheese, or other shredded cheese
  • Green Onion, garnish
  • Tortilla Chips, crackers, or Air Fryer pita chips
ingredients needed to make the raspberry chipotle dip.

How to Make Raspberry Chipotle Dip

  1. If using Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce -- in a medium bowl, use a potato masher or fork, to mash the chipotle pepper with sauce until smooth. Alternatively, use a food processor.
  2. Add jam and cumin. Stir well.
  3. Place cream cheese in oven-proof pan or dish. Top cream cheese with black beans.
  4. Pour raspberry chipotle sauce over the beans.
  5. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes or until heated through and mozzarella cheese is melted. Garnish with green onion, if desired.
  7. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or pita chips

TOP TIPS

Watch not to overbake so your beans don't dry out.

SUBSTITUTIONS AND VARIATIONS

Swap out raspberry jam with any kind you like. Consider blackberry, blueberry, strawberry, peach, etc.

Use fresh raspberries instead of jam. Just add raspberries and sugar to a sauce pan and cook over medium heat until berries are broken down and the sauce is slightly thickened.

Bronco Bob Sauce is available at some stores, including World Market, and is an easy substitute for the jam and chipotle mixture. However, it is hard to find in my local area and is a bit pricey.
