INGREDIENTS

Below is the short and easy list of what you will need to make this recipe:

  • Old Fashioned Oats--these provide the best texture.
  • Milk--I use cow milk, but feel free to use the milk that makes your tummy happy
  • Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix--Other flavors can be used to create a variety, but the cheesecake flavor hits its mark in this one.
  • Frozen Fruit--This time I used frozen blueberries, but use whatever fruit you love! Blackberries are another favorite in our house.
  • Cinnamon--A little pinch of cinnamon brings such a welcome warmth to this recipe, but leave it out if you aren't a cinnamon fan.

How to Make Overnight Oats with Frozen Fruit

In a wide-mouth canning jar combine the old-fashioned oats, vanilla pudding mix, cinnamon, and milk. Stir well to combine. Add frozen fruit on top.

Put a lid on the jar and refrigerate overnight or at least 6 hours.

When ready to eat, just stir in the fruit, and enjoy!

SUBSTITUTIONS

Oats Substitutions--Old-fashioned oats give a great texture to this breakfast without breaking down too much like quick oats do. Uncooked steel-cut oats, conversely, wouldn't get soft enough for me.

Milk Substitutions--I use cow milk at my house, but alternative milk would certainly work just fine here. So go on, use your oat milk, soy milk, coconut milk, goat milk, or almond milk for Overnight Oats with Frozen Fruit.

Sugar-Free Pudding Mix--Look for sugar-free pudding mixes to make this recipe lower in calories.

Serving Overnight Oats with Frozen Fruit

Overnight oats are fantastic served both hot or cold depending on the situation--Try them both ways!

  • Cold day? = Eat overnight oats hot by microwaving them for 30 seconds to a minute or until warmed through.
  • Hot day? = Eat overnight oats cold
  • In a hurry? = Eat overnight oats cold

Add-ins for Overnight Oats with Frozen Fruit

Add anything you like! Some stir-ins are better suited to add right before eating.

  • Nuts such as Pecans or Walnuts--add right before eating
  • Chia Seeds
  • Flax Seeds
  • Coconut
  • Yogurt
  • Dried Fruit--these will plump up overnight
  • Chocolate chips (or other flavors)--add right before eating
  • Nutmeg
  • Cocoa Nibs--add right before eating

Container for Overnight Oats

Use wide-mouth canning jars to stir this breakfast together and eat it straight out of the jar. And I love these lids! They allow us to color code the flavors. Red for strawberry. Blue for blueberry.

  1. Trying it out. I'm using unsweetened coconut milk instead. I'm also adding some strawberries with the blueberries.

This was supper yummy, but since I didn't have any vanilla pudding, I used lemon pudding. It was really good, but I'm putting vanilla pudding on the shopping list because I imagine that'll be even better!

    1. Good point, Krista! Any flavor combo you like will work. I think lemon sounds yummy! Especially with blueberries.... 🙂
